
Kaja organic was founded in 2013 by Karen Emilía Jónsdóttir who in the years prior had dedicated herself to the organic lifestyle after a life threatening battle with cancer. The company’s slogan “organic for everyone” refers to the principle of only supplying wholly organic and self-sustainably produced food with minimal climate impact.
The business started as a wholesale supplier of organic goods, but quickly expanded into the development and production of our own organic food line. A part of that process was to open a café as a part of the product development and to prevent food waste. Today Café Kaja is Iceland’s only café with a certification as being fully organic. Currently, over 20 products are available in our organic food line under the brand name Kaja which are available in the all of Iceland’s major retail food stores.
