CAMELINA OF SWEDEN byRanch
Swedish family business by Ranch is the only agricultural company in Sweden to cultivate Camelina Sativa on a large scale. They grow this ancient flowering plant without any chemical pesticides or fertilizers and the seeds are cold pressed into oil and dry-roasted. The production is free from additives and virtually free from waste. What remains from production is sold as camelina pellets, a nutritionally charged ingredient in animal feed.
The oil is a versatile alternative to all traditional cooking oils. Thanks to its high levels of vitamin E, it can tolerate heat up to 245 C° while keeping its flavour and nutritional properties. It can be used in sauces and dressings, to stir-fry, fry, bake and roast with, and even on the grill. New for 2022 is camelina oil flavoured with basil and garlic, two classic flavours that marry beautifully with the mild, nutty notes that are natural to the oil.
Camelina oil also contains more than twice as much omega 3 as 6 (ca 40% omega 3 and 18% omega 6) – a unique balance not found in any other oil. 2 tsp contain the daily requirement of omega 3, helping to balance the high levels of omega 6 in our modern diets.
Like the oil, the small terracotta-brown camelina seeds are rich in omega 3 and vitamin E. They also contain a lot of fibre and protein (23%) and add lovely texture to everything from salads, sushi and fish, to baking and breakfast porridge.
